The quality of
its products and management were among the attributes that landed
NCR Corp. onto Fortune's
magazine's list of "Most Admired Companies."
The
Dayton-based automated teller machine company ranked ninth in the category of
computer companies. IBM scored the highest on the computer company list.
Fortune, along
with the Hay Group, surveyed more than 3,200 executives, directors and
securities analysts for the ranking. Each was asked to name his or her 10
most-admired companies.
Procter and Gamble Co.
(NYSE: PG) was the only Ohio company in the overall list of top 20 most admired
companies, ranking at No. 10.
General Electric (NYSE:
GE) was rated the No. 1 most-admired company, followed by
Starbucks (Nasdaq: SBUX)
and
Toyota Motor Co. (NYSE:
TM).
NCR (NYSE:NCR)
is Dayton's largest company with more than $6 billion in revenue in 2005. It
